The Beat The Beacons (BEAT) event is taking place for the second time in 2020 (In 2019 it replaced the Talybont Trial event held annually from 1978).
The challenge walk is based at Talybont-on-Usk, a pretty village nestling below the Central Beacons between the River Usk and the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal.

There are 3 route options, ranging from the 22 mile Endurance route which ascends the highest points in the Brecon Beacons, to a 15 mile Alternative route, and to the 10 mile Taster route which has a walk leader option and is suitable for families.

B : Brecon Beacons
E : Endurance Route
A : Alternative Route
T : Taster Route

Please note that the event is a test of map reading and navigational skills in mountainous terrain. Consequently the organisers do not provide a written route description (other than for the 10 mile Taster route). All checkpoints and grid references are detailed on the Checkpoints section.

All proceeds from the event are donated to Newport Outdoor Group.
