OFF ROAD PARKING is available (exact location to be advised). Please help us to maintain cordial relations with the local authority, traders and townspeople by respecting local parking regulations.
Showers are available on site at the finish
REGISTRATION AND START TIMES
Endurance/Alternative Taster Registration 7am to 8am only 7am to 8.30am only Start Time 8am to 9am only 8.30am Maps OS 1:50,000 sheet 160 & 161 or 1:25,000 Explorer OL12 & OL13 OS 1:50,000 sheet 161 or 1:25,000 Explorer OL12 & OL13 MOUNTAIN KIT – YOU MUST CARRY THIS FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY. A KIT CHECK WILL BE CARRIED OUT BEFORE YOU ARE ALLOWED TO REGISTER.
Essential equipment for all entrants – full waterproofs (jacket & trousers), hat & gloves, boots or fell shoesAdditional Equipment – map, compass, torch, simple first aid kit, pen/pencil and whistle – We recommend that you also carry food and drink
Endurance and Alternative Routes – all entrants must carry the above equipment, even if in a group.
Taster Route – all entrants paticipating as individuals must carry all of the above equipment.For Taster Route entrants participating in a group, it is permissable that the additional equipment be shared within the group, under the control of a responsible individual (but you still need your own suitable outdoor clothing, boots etc).
ELIGIBILITY
Endurance and Alternative Routes – adults only, no under 18s. Entrants MUST be 18 or over on day of walk.
Taster Route – no age restriction but Under 18s MUST be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian/responsible adult.- All entrants will be given a wristband to wear at the start of the walk, which is used to register the entrant at each checkpoint.
All retirees must retire AT A CHECKPOINT and surrender their wristband to a Brecon Mountain Rescue Team member.
For the Endurance and Alternative Routes, entrants who have not reached the cut off checkpoint (GR SO 0524 1724) by 16.00 WILL BE ASKED TO RETIRE.
In the event of adverse weather conditions, the Brecon Mountain Rescue Team at their sole discretion will decide on safety grounds whether the event can take place, and the organisers accept no liability in respect of any parties’ losses or expenses in the event the walk is subsequently amended or cancelled. Where possible, we will endeavour to publish any available updates prior to the walk on this website.
Stick to obvious, walked paths on the mountains. Do not cross heathland etc, since much of it is a protected, fragile environment
